Pia Long is a Finnish perfumer who, having made Britain her home in the early 90s, now creates for a range of brands from designer names to ultra niche concept-driven projects.
A London College of Fashion graduate, Pia's original career was in film, tv and theatre, but it was the time spent selling fragrance to fund her studies that would plant a seed for the future. She went on to become a junior perfumer for Lush, after which she worked as a perfumer (with extra duties like quality control) for two small suppliers in the fragrance trade, eventually going on to form the independent fragrance lab Olfiction in 2016 with Nick Gilbert.
Dreaming in smell and moving olfactive objects in her mind, Pia's love of stories and colour translates to a perfumery style she describes as olfactive magic realism.
Recent creations include the Vallense debut collection for William Borrell, perfumes for Lindsay April's tattoo studio in Canada, and the first five fragrances for Olfiction's own brand, Eau de Boujee.
